みなさん梅雨ですね。三味線はよく拭いてしっかり和紙に入れましょうね！
さて前回からの続きで本土の三味線と沖縄三味線を比べますね。

Now, continuing from last time, let me compare the mainland shamisen and the Okinawan shamisen.
音緒の部分は形状は似ていますが少し違いますよね。
糸の部分を見ていただけると分かるのですが糸の止め方も少し違います。
糸は本土の三味線は絹糸が主流ですが沖縄三味線は化繊の糸を使っています。
胴掛けは沖縄三味線は胴全体を覆っています。
これは立って弾くからという事もあるかもしれませんし沖縄三線は鱗が痛いので
覆っているかもしれません。
胴の形状も沖縄三味線の方が丸っこいですね。本土の三味線の方が胴が大きいので
大きな音は出ます。
The shape of the sound cord is similar, but slightly different.
As you can see in the strings section, the way the strings is fastened is also slightly different.
Mainland shamisen are usually made of silk strings, but Okinawan shamisen are made of synthetic fibers.
The body of the Okinawan shamisen covers the entire body.
This may be because the shamisen is played standing up, or it may be because the scales of the Okinawan shamisen are painful.
The shape of the body is also a factor in the shape of the Okinawan shamisen.
The shape of the body of the Okinawan shamisen is also more rounded. The mainland shamisen has a larger body and produces a louder sound.

上棹の糸の載る部分(上駒)は本土の三味線は金属ですが沖縄三味線は舎利(動物の骨)を使っています。
沖縄三味線の上駒は溝を掘ってあって糸がはまるようになっています。
糸巻きが入っている部分は本土の三味線は金属を嵌め込んでいます。
おそらく本土に入ってきた時は沖縄三味線のように天神に穴を開けただけで糸巻きを入れていたのかなと思います。
沖縄三味線を見ると本土の三味線の成り立ちが分かってきて面白いですね。
The upper neck is made of metal for mainland shamisen, but for Okinawa shamisen, it is made of animal bone.
The top piece of the Okinawa shamisen has a groove dug into it so that the string can fit into it.
The part where the peg is inserted is made of metal in mainland Japan.
Perhaps when the shamisen was introduced to the mainland, a hole was simply drilled in the tenjin like on the Okinawa shamisen, and a peg was inserted.
It is interesting to look at the Okinawan shamisen and understand the origins of the mainland shamisen.
糸を乗せるブリッジも形が違いますね。本土の三味線の駒は形状も様々で材質も象牙や舎利、水牛等千差万別です。
本土の三味線の場合竹の材料でも糸の載る部分には削れないように
硬い材料を使うのですが沖縄三味線の駒は竹だけで作っています。あまり糸を強く張らないので必要がないのかもしれません。
以上のように沖縄三味線と本土の三味線を比べると色々共通点もあるし違う点もある。
本土の三味線が渡ってきた時の形も想像できて面白いですね!

As mentioned above, there are many similarities and differences between the Okinawan and mainland shamisen.
It is interesting to imagine what the mainland shamisen looked like when they came over!
